Transformers the Movie Page
This is a brief archive on the up and coming Transformers Movie ready for it's scheduled realease on the 4th of July 2007.
The official site has the first teaser trailer (here). For those of you who don't wish to of have the ability to view, here is a brief synopsis.
Scene starts in 2003, with Houston Space Control monitoring the launch of an apollo style rocketto the vocal of a T-Minus countdown. The words "In 2003 the Beagle 2 Mars Rover was launched" follow - (Quick note: I think the Beagle 2 was launched by a European consortium from the Russian Cosmodrome, but hey ho, films made in America like to a bit of artistic licence.)

Cut to a nice graphic of the lander unit heating up on entry to the Mars atmosphere "We were told it crashed" (well it did, you don't think that the Michael Bay and the production team of Transformers were responsible for the loss of Beagle 2, just so that they could make a trailer for their new film - Conspiracy Theory 1).

Cut to the video feed from the freshly landed Beagle 2 unit. Lots of clicking and whiring at the Beagle unit unfolds and begins to slowly drive off of the landing platform. (Note 2 : As far as I am aware Beagle 2 did not have funky little chrome alloys as pictured in the teaser. Did Micahel Bay feel that it would take something away from the impact of the teaser if the Beagle did not have funky alloys, who knows.)

"It's final transmission was classified Top Secret" Cool robot noises are heard as a shadow falls over the Beagle 2 rover. Sand rises into the air and the rover unit appears to be flipped over. It's last image is of a humanoid shape robot standing over it. And the screen goes blank.

Apart from my unnecessary whinges over the factual inaccuracies of the Beagle 2 interpretation (I'm just British and like whinging) the teaser looks very cool.
So it starts you thinking:
What are the transformers doing on Mars in 2003?
If the military (one presumes) are aware of their existance, have they been preparing a response to a future threat from them?
